How we requested web consulting
Two years ago, our staff attended a seminar held by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of a neighboring town. The lecturer at that time was Mr. Nakayama.
I recall that the staff reported that the seminar was very well received, that Mr. Nakayama was very personable, and that the seminar materials could be used for new business sales applications.
I met him on the last day of the seminar and we exchanged business cards. He was soft-spoken and did not have the teacher’s perspective or tone of voice typical of web consultants, so I was impacted in a different way.
At the time, our main business was web production, and we had no other products or services to speak of, so we were looking for another pillar of business to launch.
Also, a Chamber of Commerce grant project was open for applications, and we wanted to use outside resources while taking advantage of this grant.
Learning about Mr. Nakayama was a good boost.
Issues and concerns prior to consulting request
However, we did not make a decision right away and request consulting services.
Actually, I had one concern.
I had often heard from fellow local business owners that they had paid high fees forconsulting services from the mainland and had ended up with nothing to show for it.

The root of this result lies in the fact that we created the LP (landing page) and free guidebook ourselves with guidance and advice from Mr. Nakayama. The experience of working together through trial and error was a great asset.
This experience and know-how has been fully utilized in our core business of web production, leading to increased satisfaction with site production and referrals, resulting in strong sales and profits and stable cash flow.
The sales strategy developed through the 3C analysis was also fully utilized in attracting prospective clients, and sales became much easier because of the strategic marketing thinking that went into attracting them.
It seems to me that we have evolved from providing the “product” of a website to providing the “value” of marketing thinking.
Message to everyone
After consulting with Mr. Nakayama, the only books I buy are marketing books.
I feel like I have completely shifted my thinking from the engineering side of web production to areas such as marketing and behavioral psychology.
I feel that Mr. Nakayama’s guidance and advice are not only to solve a single project, problem, or concern, but also to “trigger awareness” consulting to grow the management or even the thinking of the staff.
